1.21 AM.
there is so much for me to say that I don't even know where to begin. It is midnight now and I'm still on my laptop and I have on a Ted talk video on Youtube about gratitude (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gXDMoiEkyuQ). And before this I was writing on my gratitude journal about my life in general. I just had a rush of inspiration and wanted to write things down and share my thoughts.
I just love my life so much and i love Earth.
So many of us here take our lives for granted and we don't open our eyes, our heart enough to realise all this planet offers, what the nature is and we're all so drown in our "reality" of this life and be locked up in the stressful world.
I believe that everything happens for a reason. Even if events, people, phases of life that seem bad to you at the moment, there is surely a purpose for it, that's why it happened. There is a reason behind everything, maybe you won't see it now but have faith and believe that one day it will unravel and you will realise that "oh, if that didn't happen, I wouldn't have done this or learnt that." You can still be grateful for the negative things in life for not being worse than it is haha. That is how I always tell myself - "things could be worse, but it isn't!"
What we don't realise is the beauty of the world. There is so much more out there (and within yourself too), but there's only so much I can mention. Everyday we go on with our lives, taking everything for granted, and I mean EVERYTHING. I can start listing and the list will never ever end. Depending on what you realise and what you accept.
_________________________________________________________________________________________________
For starters, our body, our health. Most of us are born with perfect health or maybe just a couple of flaws I'd say? To start being grateful, we have to realise what we have. We have this incredibly fine body to ourselves. No matter the sizes, the colours or anything you can discriminate yourself from. Our 5 senses. What matters a ton, we have vision, voice, hearing, smelling and tasting. Now it all sounds like what it is, what we've heard it is and think it's nothing really you have to be grateful about, but hear me out. Can you imagine your life without any of those senses? How much of a burden it would be to live with the lack of senses? Let's take the eyes for example, do you even realise the importance of our eyes? Do you take your eyes for granted? Our eyes allow us to do countless of things and I'd say it's magical. I'm forever grateful for the ability to see, with both of my eyes. Whether or not you have seen beautiful things, I'm sure you all have somehow, you just don't realise it. The pair allow us to embrace the beauty of planet Earth, seeing nature, looking up at the sky, seeing the faces of your loved ones, watching your favourite TV show, seeing adorable animals, the list goes on. But how many of us here can actually embrace this ability and not take it for granted and be grateful for it every single day?
Then, our heart too. The heart is crucial to our survival and the happiest moments in life, where you feel things. I'm grateful for my pumping heart, healthy and strong heart for me to be able to live so well, to feel love, to feel sympathy and all the emotions. There are a number of people, animals out there who might have a weak heart, they might not be able to breathe well and feel emotions. Basically, they have to put a lot of effort to things we can do effortlessly, even without realising.
My family and friends, best people I could ever ask for. Whether you have a loving family, kind friends, supportive friends or violent family, disloyal, fake friends, we always will have someone to be grateful for, or moments. I am really really grateful for my family and friends who are really super nice people and they're nice to me and I can't imagine my life without having them or having really bad family or such. Even if you do not have the most perfect family now, at least you have a family, at least they don't throw you out the streets by yourself? Literally you can have things much worse but you're not having those things and there is ALWAYS something to be grateful for. Even if you have fake friends or bitches around your life, be grateful for that one nice friend you have.
Why focus on the negative impacts in your life while you can appreciate the positive side of life that's treating you so well?
Literally. In so many moments in life we tend to dwell on what you don't have and who treat you bad but honestly, do yourself a favour and shift your focus. There is so much you can be grateful for.
Here's a list if you don't get what I mean:
-Having a roof above your head
you have somewhere you can feel safe at, and protect yourself from the rain, the sun, or anything at all.
-Having running water right when you turn on the tap
clean water too. do you notice the trouble you get when your house is short of water and you can't shower, can't wash your hands, can't flush the toilet? Well, appreciate it when you can do all those things at absolute ease.
-Having direct and instant reach to your friends and family
technology allows you to have that. to reach who you want at a few clicks and deliver your message right this instant. imagine life without wifi connections and signals, how much of a hassle it is to reach to one another?
-Having plants
photosynthesis. air. it keeps us alive. do I need more words?
-Having food
we can have food so easily and conveniently. keeps us alive too. how bad does hunger feel? how bad do you feel when you just crave some food and you can't have it?
-Education
you wouldn't be able to read anything. you wouldn't be able to count numbers without it.
-Having a friend or a group of friends
someone you can share your happiness and sadness with, a partner for life that you can always rely on and will support you no matter what. Whether you have very less friends or you have a big group of friends, what matters is that you have a support system and what will you do without them? You also have people that you can care for, show love to and be there for.
-Living in a safe environment
most of us have the luxury of sleeping peacefully and safely without a worry that anything dangerous might happen to us. Having a peace of mind while commuting knowing nothing bad will happen to you, going to a store without worrying about getting pick-pocketed.
-Having perfectly fine and working electricity
electricity plays a huge part of our lives and aid us in ways that we take granted for. We get to have lights on at night while we sit at home, walk or drive in a dark area. Have cold air from airconds or fans on an instant when it is super hot outdoors and you are sweating. Some people are not fortunate enough to experience what we take for granted every single day and that should change.
All these are the little things that we should appreciate in life and not a lot of people know how to be grateful for them. I'm learning day by day to appreciate more things, people and moments in my life and I hope you do too.
"be grateful for what you have; you will end up having more. If you concentrate on what you don't have; you will never have enough."
